7 Places to Grab Thanksgiving Dinner To-Go in The Land

Go on. Stuff yourself this year. You’ve earned it.

Kevin Carpenter, Allison Jack November 03, 2022

Thanksgiving is the ultimate comfort food holiday. Whether it’s the succulent turkey you crave, or mouthwatering stuffing that gets you going, you’ll find all your faves ready for you at delicious small businesses. Skip the long hours toiling over a hot stove and support some of Cleveland’s best restaurants by grabbing your feast prepared and ready to heat and serve.

Place a takeout order and watch that holiday stress melt away. Think about it: No tower of dirty dishes piled up in the sink. A Thanksgiving morning spent watching the parade instead of prepping a turkey. No judgmental side-eye from the out-of-towners when you snag the last piece of pie. It’s all about finding the bright side, people.

1. Creekside Restaurant & Bar

This Brecksville staple serves up fully cooked Thanksgiving meals and all the extras, like house made Pumpkin Pies or the fabulous Pumpkin Cassata Torte. Try their special Thanksgiving Day Soup - all the flavors of a delicious Thanksgiving dinner combined in one bowl. Grab a spoon!

2. The South Side

Enjoy to-go Turkey Dinner (ready to heat serve) from this delectable Tremont icon. They’ve got all the usual (delicious) suspects: sliced turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, veggies, stuffing and cranberry sauce (you can even add salads, soups and pie).

3. Cafe Avalaun

If a no-gluten Thanksgiving is your jam, hit up Café Avalaun and order up your choice of yummy sides and desserts to take home and munch on with the fam (or the family of your choosing). Who would’ve known it’d even be possible to whip up gluten-free everything: Pies, pumpkin spice muffins, pumpkin rolls, dinner rolls, gravy, vegetable sides, stuffing and other tasty delights.

4. Nomad Culinary

This Cleveland catering biz will offer Thanksgiving dinner (for 15 or so, but who’s counting) ready to be devoured, with all the tasty sweet and savory sides and desserts. Run; don’t walk. These guys know what they’re doing in the kitchen.

5. Mallorca

Grab a full turkey dinner, Spanish/Portuguese-style (Did someone say chorizo stuffing?!) with all the trimmings to enjoy at home. This can’t-miss Warehouse District spot has been serving their scrumptious fare to some of the same families for more than 26 years (with the same chef). Paella for the win!

6. Cleveland Vegan

Seitan “turkey” — vital wheat gluten with the taste and texture of meat — is the star of this show. While the Lakewood cafe will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, they’re accepting catering orders until November 18 for a fresh, plant-based take on this most classic of meals. Try the Thanksgiving Bowl, packed full of seitan “turkey,” cheesy mashed potatoes, corn and gravy.

7. The Sweet Fix Bakery

What would this holiday be without pies, desserts and all that other baked goodness? (Shudder) We don’t want to think about it. Cap off Turkey Day with a sweet treat prepared by owner and chef, Robert Craig, from this aptly-named Cleveland Heights bakeshop. Our pick? Seasonal fave Sweet Potato Pie.
