The Greater Buckeye neighborhood envelops the old Buckeye, Larchmere, Shaker Square and Woodland Hills communities. Shaker Square, the nation’s second-oldest outdoor planned shopping district, connects the city of Shaker Heights and its surrounding suburbs east of Downtown with a Regional Transit Authority (RTA) rapid transit station.
Plans for investment in the area’s arts and innovation are afoot. In August of 2022, Cleveland’s City Planning Commission approved a master plan for the district, working with community development partner Burten, Bell, Carr Development, Inc. to attract outside investors while stimulating local entrepreneurship.
