Opened January 13, 2012 as part of the “Power of Three” collaboration that brought Cleveland Play House and the Cleveland State University Department of Theatre and Dance to Playhouse Square as resident companies, this adaptable, contemporary space hosts performances by CPH, CSU, Case Western Reserve University’s MFA in Acting program, and other events.
Playhouse Square is a cornerstone of Cleveland’s cultural identity, hosting more than 1000 performances annually – from Broadway hits and concerts to comedy and special events. Playhouse Square is home to eight resident companies and 12 venues. Free public tours off a behind-the-scenes look at the district’s rich history, architecture and vibrant legacy. Its theaters and elegant lobbies are also available for private rentals, making it a standout venue for planners seeking a memorable space.
