The Finnish Cultural Garden celebrates the language, folklore, and spirit of the Finnish people. A granite plaque features a quote from Aleksis Kivi (1870): “A strong will carries a man even through gray granite.”
You’ll also find busts of composer Jean Sibelius; Elias Lönnrot, compiler of the epic poem Kalevala; statesman Johan Vilhelm Snellman; and poet Johan Ludvig Runeberg.
Volunteers from the Finnish Heritage Museum and others help organize and maintain the garden throughout the year.
