The Croatian Cultural Garden was dedicated 21 years after Croatia gained independence from Yugoslavia, and it emerged after the area once known as the Yugoslav Cultural Garden became the Slovenian Cultural Garden.
Croatians arrived in Cleveland in waves beginning in the 1860s. Today, the community lives throughout Northeast Ohio and still gathers at the American-Croatian Lodge in Eastlake.
