Built by the Cleveland-based King Bridge
Company, the Center Street Swing Bridge
is a bobtail swing bridge, meaning the
spans on either side of the pivot point are
unequal. Swing bridges used to be the
dominant type of movable bridge in the
Flats but were gradually replaced by vertical
lift bridges. Center Street is the last
operating swing bridge in the state of Ohio.
