Hospitality Star Award

Feeling Welcome

Destination Cleveland is committed to enhancing the visitor experience in Cleveland. And, the people who work in Cleveland's travel and tourism community play a critical role as the face of our city to visitors.

Each year, Destination Cleveland will recognize individuals that go above and beyond customer service to offer true hospitality to Cleveland visitors. Potential nominees might include staff at hotels, restaurants, attractions, transportation authorities, the airport, taxi cab companies - anyone that interacts with a visitor during their stay.

True Cleveland Hospitality

So, what's the difference between customer service and true Cleveland hospitality?

  • Customer Service: A taxi cab driver drops a visitor off at his/her destination in a kind and timely manner.
  • True Cleveland Hospitality: A taxi cab driver drops a visitor off at his/her destination in a kind and timely manner, and shares upcoming events, fun things to do, and fun facts about Cleveland during the ride.
  • Customer Service: A front desk clerk shows a visitor where to purchase a new dress shirt for his/her meeting the next day.
  • True Cleveland Hospitality: A front desk clerk shows a visitor where to purchase a new dress shirt for his/her meeting the next day, calls the store in advance to confirm its hours and then sends the purchased shirt out to be freshly pressed and delivered to the visitor's room.
