Format: Team-based championship brackets for each age group. Impact: The event is projected to generate an estimated $2,000,000 in economic impact for the local community. The Dru Joyce Classic was founded in 2003 by legendary coach Dru Joyce. Having coached icons like LeBron James and Dru Joyce III at Akron's St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, Coach Joyce recognized a need for a high-caliber, sanctioned tournament in Ohio. His vision was to create a platform where local and national athletes could showcase their skills directly to college recruiters. Today, the tournament remains a vital scouting ground, offering young athletes the exposure necessary to reach the next level of their playing careers.
