Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, located in the Akron area, is an estate featuring an historic 65-room Tudor Revival manor house, conservatory, lodge and 70 acres of artistically landscaped grounds and formal gardens. So when they put on a holiday event, as you might imagine, the place truly comes alive with the holiday spirit.
Running varied dates Nov. 29-Dec. 30, Deck the Hall glitters with sparkling lights, elaborately decorated rooms and holiday treats.
So, why check out the awesomeness that is Deck the Hall? Here are five good reasons …
One million sparkling lights! That’s a ton of lights decking out the 70-acre property, which includes “Gingerbread Lane,” a holiday remake of the attraction’s popular PlayGarden. The lights are enhanced by even more sparkle thanks to the radiant beams emanating from “DAZZLE,” a light show choreographed to three holiday songs on the outside of the manor home.

Each night at 5:30 p.m., you can be there as Stan Hywet lights its dazzling tree with the big man himself. Santa Claus and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer hang out in Stan Hywet’s courtyard for photos until 8 p.m. And, after Christmas, look for the Gingerbread Man. For even more holiday card photo backdrops, Stan Hywet has two dedicated photo stops throughout the property.
It wouldn’t be a proper visit to Stan Hywet without exploring the gardens component of this Northeast Ohio attraction. And, good news, the weather doesn’t stop the beauty. Make your way over to the property’s Corbin Conservatory, which is thankfully heated, to scope the 20-foot-tall poinsettia tree. Holiday plants and poinsettias are also available for purchase (and holiday party host gift giving, of course).
The 64,500-square-foot historic manor house, which was the home of F.A. Seiberling (co-founder of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.) and his family for 40 years, is filled with treasures from around the globe and reflects the lavishness of the early 20th century. So, add in some holiday décor, and you’ve got an uncanny amount of opulence radiating from each of its story-filled rooms. During Deck the Hall, you can take a self-guided tour through the gorgeous mansion — a not-to-be-missed holiday treat.
It wouldn’t be a proper holiday party without some serious food and bev. Besides just scoping the gingerbread bakeshop, you’d best nom your way through fresh-baked gingerbread cookies, warm pretzels, cocoa, hot cider, beer and wine for purchase in Stan Hywet’s courtyard. Or, grab some holiday sweets in Molly’s Café inside the manor house after your self-guided tour.
Deck the Hall runs select from 5-8 p.m. on Nov. 28 & 29, Dec. 1, 5-8, 12-23, 26-30. Advanced ticket purchases are recommended.
