Tremont Greek Fest

Opa!

Dolmathes, soutzoukakia, gyros, loukoumathes, baklava. You might not be able to correctly pronounce the names of all these Greek delicacies, but your taste buds certainly won't judge. Just ask the parishioners and volunteers at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood for clarification. Many of them are the chefs de cuisine behind this belt-notch-expanding spread of authentic homemade Greek food.

The Tremont Greek Festival is a Memorial Day tradition that's been around for 40+ years. If you go, don't be surprised if you feel like you're at a really welcoming family party. Everybody seems to know everybody else. Chances are, they probably do. And, guess what? You're part of the family now, too.

What You'll See:

  • We've covered this one: you're going to eat. A lot. If you don't come hungry, you'll be kicking yourself. But, also come ready to quench your thirst with some authentically Greek coffee, wine, beer and spirits.
  • Work off that extra piece of baklava by cutting some rug with the talented Greek dancers and musicians hailing from local churches and area heritage groups.

What Else To Do:

  • Take a break from eating with a tour of the exquisitely designed Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, which was incorporated in 1913 and still maintains much of its original grandeur.
  • Scope jewelry, handmade wares and art at the fest's flea market.
