Lake County, Ohio

Just 20 minutes east of downtown Cleveland, it’s Ohio’s smallest county by land area, but delivers more than 30 miles of Lake Erie coastline without the crowds. Start your morning on a sandy beach, then explore lakefront parks, quiet nature preserves, and shaded trails at your own pace.
Along the shore, two classic lighthouses and the home of James A. Garfield in Mentor give you a reason to slow down. It’s the kind of place where you can fill a full day without feeling rushed. Bright yellow Adirondack chairs show up along the shore, in parks, and at wineries, inviting you to sit and take it all in.
Off the water, the Grand River Valley offers 30 wineries, from casual tasting rooms to scenic patios where you can settle in. Stay at a boutique inn, B&B, or modern hotel, then explore lakefront towns made for slow browsing, from farmers markets to local shops and easy-going spots to eat.

Ravenna revs up with the Octane Night Car Cruise-In on Aug. 5, followed by Streetsboro’s Brew & BBQ Bash on Aug. 15. Finish the season with the Ravenna Balloon A-Fair, Sept. 24-27.
