Answering those burning questions we all have about Cleveland

Legends of The Land Podcast

This is Legends of The Land, a podcast series that centers on some of those absolutely burning questions we all have about Cleveland — the kind of stuff no one is talking about – but probably should.

« Back to Destination Cleveland’s Major Initiatives

Murals Across the City

Public Art in The Land

We’re taking the Cleveland brand into the city’s neighborhoods. We’ve created the “Murals Across the City” program to add to our neighborhoods’ places of interest and encourage visitation. Our goal is to create photo-ready, branded murals that celebrate local artists. It also gives residents and visitors another way to share their love of The Land.

Learn more about the talented artists, the engaging murals and how to find them when you’re out and about. Don’t forget to snap a pic and tag us with #TheLandforLife, because sharing is caring.

Thank you to everyone who submitted to be a part of this project in 2025. Artist submissions are now closed.

Bob Peck

Bob Peck began his art career at an early age. As a kid, he admired the graffiti art he saw scattered around his neighborhood on the west side of Cleveland. He began to follow the graffiti "trails" to places with densely marred walls full of this urban art. As time passed, he started to paint on his own. Graffiti taught him more than just art. Bob now creates murals for corporate clients and local businesses alike. His abstract pieces can be seen in galleries across the Cleveland area in place of his once-tagged name.

About the Design
The design is intended to create a space full of color, energy and movement. The mural serves as a lively photo backdrop, while simultaneously brightening the space. These abstract designs are derived from the artist's years in the graffiti scene. He takes the same style elements you’d find in graffiti art, but sets them free from the boundaries of the letter structure.

Lisa Quine

Lisa Quine is a Cleveland-based creative consultant. Her areas of focus are murals, lettering, illustration and graphic design. She’s created over 100 murals in two countries (USA and France) and six states (Ohio, California, Florida, Texas, Indiana and Iowa). When she isn’t painting a wall or lettering on her iPad, Lisa loves spending time with her big Slovenian family or going on hikes around Ohio with her husband, children and two dogs.

About the Design

The design focuses on the Cleveland skyline and makes it as magical as the city itself. Lisa wanted to paint something for Cleveland's residents and visitors of all ages so that they too can celebrate this vibrant place. The piece features Lake Erie and Cleveland's beautiful skyline but mainly uses the composition to showcase what comes out of the city — creativity and innovation. This design came out of trying to put into shapes and colors what it's like to be here.

Kelle Schwab

Kelle Schwab is an artist, designer, muralist and art director. After completing her college degrees, she moved to Cleveland to work for American Greetings as an art director and designer, which is a position she's held for more than 13 years. When not working for clients, she creates fine art, travels to off-the-beaten-path international spaces, amuses herself with strange animal facts, hikes, skis and studies yoga, wellness and whiskey.

About the Design

The mural is focused on the Luna Moth, which is native to Cleveland and, she believes, creatively personifies the city's spirit. Its verdant shade symbolizes Cleveland's ambitious vitality and offers a fun photo opportunity that encapsulates the city's vibrancy. Native to Cleveland, the "Forget-Me-Not” flowers are associated with determination and an underdog mentality. Despite their modest size, these two elements flourish in challenging environments, embodying the city's ability to overcome obstacles and emerge stronger.

Ian Burleson

Ian Burleson is a digital and acrylic artist based in Northeast Ohio. Raised by a single mother before being introduced to a blended family, Ian started creating art at an early age to escape turmoil and uncertainty. As he's gotten older, he's branched out as an artist to explore his multi-cultural background.

About the Design

The mural focuses on the idea of "Aiming Inspiration: The foundations of Cleveland are strong just like the Guardians." Ian believes Cleveland's legacy is built on old families and strong cultural institutions, which are depicted in this piece that highlights colors that provide backbone, culture, structure, artistic view and guidance. This piece was designed to relay the idea that The Land is redefining itself while keeping true to its hard working, yet eccentric, side.

Isaiah Williams

Isaiah Williams is a consistent and prolific practitioner of expressing himself through art. He has always been drawn to drawing landscapes, creatures and modern art concepts from a young age. As an artist, Isaiah is actively looking for ways to inspire youth and bring the community together. He describes his style of art as "wild and unruly, but also neatly packaged." The result is art that's understood by the average viewer.

About The Design

With all of his pieces, Isaiah's art is intended to beautify a space while also containing subliminal messages that aim to invoke deep thought within the viewer’s mind. He uses a multitude of colors and textures behind every stroke for the purpose of leaving an everlasting impression.

Bob Peck

Bob Peck began his art career at an early age as an admirer of graffiti art he saw scattered around his neighborhood on the west side of Cleveland. He began to follow the graffiti "trails" to places with densely marred walls full of this urban art. After repeatedly visiting these places, he began to meet some of the local graffiti artists of his area. They took Bob under their wing and began teaching him about the history and techniques of the art. Graffiti taught him more than just art. It taught him leadership and the spirit of competition. Bob now creates murals for corporate clients and local businesses alike. His abstract pieces can be seen in galleries across the Cleveland area in place of his once tagged name.

About the Design

The design is intended to create a space full of color, energy and movement. A lively place to serve as a photo op and to brighten a space. These abstract designs are derived from the artist's years in the graffiti scene taking the same style elements you’d find in graffiti art and setting them free from the boundaries of the letter structure.

Stina Aleah

After suffering a sports-related injury, Stina Aleah turned to art and fell in love with the power of creativity to heal herself physically and mentally. As a self-taught painter, her passion for art and storytelling has become an essential part of her identity and career. Stina uses her life experiences to create breathtaking oil paintings that leave audiences motivated and inspired. The artist’s work has been collected both nationally and internationally, collaborating with major corporations, Emmy-nominated television series, celebrities, galleries and exhibitions.

About the Design

The design features newspaper clippings and focuses on different aspects of Cleveland. The goal is to educate Clevelanders on what Cleveland is all about and promote a sense of pride and happiness when seeing what the city has to offer. In the bottom right corner, there is an interactive section titled, "The Land of Creating Your Own Story," accompanied by a poem written by the artist. It is meant to inspire those looking at this mural to step into their youthful joyfulness and create a beautiful life in Cleveland.

Seeking Mural-Ready Walls

Destination Cleveland is seeking locations throughout Greater Cleveland to serve as the perfect canvas for these Cleveland-branded murals.

Ideal mural locations include commercial sites and neighborhood areas:

  • Near established attractions/experiences, restaurants and/or historical sites of interest
  • With ground-level access (ensures that photos can be taken in front of the art)
  • Comprised of block or painted brick surfaces (unpainted brick walls cannot be considered)

If you have or know of a site that meets these criteria, send the (1) address, (2) contact information and (3) location photo to murals@destinationcle.org. If interested, a Destination Cleveland representative will reach out.
