The Abraham Lincoln Memorial is a powerful bronze depiction of the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, who visited the Cleveland area twice – once in life and once in death. Forever immortalized in the heart of downtown by Cleveland-raised sculptor Max Kalish, Lincoln stands tall while delivering the Gettysburg Address. The statue was funded by a perhaps unexpected benefactor: Greater Cleveland schoolchildren, who raised $30,000 in pennies, nickels and dimes to bring the monument to fruition.
Since 1932, it has served as a reminder of the Civil War-era President’s legacy and the end of slavery in the United States.
The memorial is on the eastern side of Mall A downtown. It sits between Rockwell Avenue and St. Clair Avenue NE behind the Drury Plaza Hotel.
