Cleveland Talent Alliance
Goal Metrics

Defining long-term talent retention performance metrics

To demonstrate measurable progress toward its mission to grow Greater Cleveland’s population by increasing and retaining working-age adults, the Cleveland Talent Alliance will strive to achieve two performance metrics to which the community can hold the consortium accountable over the next six years.

These metrics align with the Alliance's strategies of improving perceptions of Cleveland as a place to live and work and retaining permanent residents from colleges and universities in Northeast Ohio. Each metric is tied to baseline data collected between 2021 and 2023. A work plan will guide the efforts of each key strategy “owner.”

Willingness to relocate

Strategy:
Improve perceptions of CLE as a place to live and work.

Performance Metric:
Percentage of talent in target markets indicating
a willingness to relocate to Cleveland.

2023 Baseline: 42%

2030 Goal: 46%

KPI Owner: Destination Cleveland

David Gilbert, President and CEO of
Destination Cleveland:

"Changing perceptions of Cleveland as a place to live and work will require consistent messaging through a variety of marketing and engagement efforts over an extended period. We’re leveraging the progress we’ve made with Cleveland’s reputation as a place to visit over the past 10 years as a springboard. What that progress also illustrates is that this is a long game – one that will take time and ultimately benefit the region for decades to come.”

Retaining College Graduates

Strategy:
Retain graduates from Northeast Ohio colleges
and universities as permanent residents.

Performance Metric:
Percentage of college graduates retained.

2021 Baseline: 47%

2023: 50%

2030 Goal: 55%

KPI Owner: Greater Cleveland Partnership.

Baiju Shah, President and CEO of
Greater Cleveland Partnership:

“Our universities have nearly 190,000 students, an incredible pipeline of talent for our region's growth. By connecting more of them to internships and to experiences, more will see that this is a great region in which to stay and launch professionally.”
