The Ukrainian Museum-Archives in Cleveland was founded in 1952 by displaced scholars who took on the mission of collecting and preserving items from Ukrainian history and culture during an era when this type of material was being destroyed in Soviet Ukraine. Over time, the Ukrainian Museum-Archives has compiled an extensive collection that includes many rare and unique items. The UMA's mission is to preserve and share Ukrainian culture and the immigrant experience and it does so by showcasing collections of artifacts and exhibits that include items such as postage stamps, currency, commemorative buttons and pins, programs and fliers, posters, books, artwork, and tons of other memorabilia.
