Sometimes it's hard getting folks to the orchestra. There's something about the concertos and Prokofievs of it all that can seem a little intimidating. That's where the Pops comes in.
It is the mission of the Cleveland Pops Orchestra to make orchestral performances appeal to music lovers of all stripes by performing the most popular music (Pops - get it?) of stage, film and television - music that reaches inside and sparks an emotional response that could turn them on to this wonderful art form.
The orchestra even provides an educational program called Actual Music dedicated to providing students (Pre-K to second grade) from underserved communities in-school courses on music basics along with dance, vocal and instrumental performances.
If all this weren't enough, they throw one heck of a party, too.
This New Year's Eve, join the Cleveland Pops Orchestra for their year-end concert bash "The Roaring Twenties." Enjoy a 2-hour concert from the Pops with guest performers Connor Bogart O'Brien and Hannah Kulawiak (first-place winner of the Shining Star CLE competition), followed by dancing until 1 a.m. courtesy of The No-Name Band and the Pops Jazz Ensemble, a midnight balloon drop, cash bars, refreshments, desserts and more. Wear your best 20s outfit for a shot at cash prizes in the costume contest.
Tickets can be purchased online at clevelandpops.com or by calling 216-231-1111.
