Returning to making music together after the hiatus imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the glorious voices of Cleveland Chamber Choir present "Madrigals of All Times." The concert will be pre-recorded and released online on Facebook and YouTube on Saturday, May 15 at 7:30pm. It will be archived and available on demand following the premiere. Drawing from a diverse collection of European and American composers from the sixteenth century to today, we contrast settings of the same poetry, composed centuries apart. Central to this concert are two world premieres: "Three Madrigals" by renowned Northeast Ohio composer Dolores White; and "Two Madrigals" by Adolphus Hailstork, which had been presumed lost. Also featured on this program is music by Aleotti, Weelkes, Gibbons, Josquin, Bennet, Stainer, Lauridsen, Brahms, and Rindfleisch. From the sixteenth century to today, let the words and sounds of emotion ranging from playful joy, parting grief, passion, and honor wash over you.
