Euclid, Ohio (December 19, 2019) – The fifth Annual Lake Erie Folk Fest (LEFF) will be held Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the Shore Cultural Centre located at 291 East 222nd Street in Euclid, Ohio. This annual event celebrates a diverse array of traditional music and dance styles from a wide variety of cultures and provides free workshops with accomplished instructors for people of all ages and skill levels, to encourage the preservation of and participation in the traditional arts. Whether you’re a musician or just a fan of great music and the arts, there is something for everybody to enjoy! Musicians, dancers and fans of bluegrass, old time, Irish, blues, polka, ballads and everything in between are invited to participate in LEFF’s free workshops, dances and mini-concerts from 1:00 to 6:00 PM at the Shore Cultural Centre. There is also plenty of room for musicians to get together and jam throughout the course of the day. The event will cap-off with a 7:30 PM evening concert featuring the award-winning bluegrass band, Carolina Blue, who present traditional bluegrass music in the style of Bill Monroe, the genre’s founder. Other featured performers include: • Harmonia, masters of the traditional folk music of eastern Europe, ranging from the Danube to the Carpathians; • Distinguished Gentlemen of the Spoken Word, a Cleveland treasure, is a group of African-American males ages 8-18 who study the art of performance poetry; and • Award winning Brazilian singer-songwriter, Luca Mundaca, who is the recipient of an Independent Music Award in the world fusion category and is a Putumayo World Music recording artist whose work has been featured in numerous films and HBO shows. All Saturday afternoon workshops, mini-concerts and dances are free and open to the public and tickets for the evening concert are $15 (advance) and $20 (day of show) with 12 and under free! The Lake Erie Folk Fest will kick-off on Friday, February 21 at 10:00 AM with a special educational program for area grade school students featuring concert headliner, Carolina Blue. Later that evening from 7:00 to 10:00 PM, Carolina Blue will conduct master classes for bluegrass musicians in mandolin, banjo, guitar, fiddle and bass.
