Welcome back! It is with great pride that we build our 2022 BorderLight Festival to illuminate the borders that divide us and foster reciprocal connections between Cleveland and the global community, especially as we move out of this period of isolation.
After the last two years, we all deserve a jolt from the normal, and artists deserve a platform for their work. BorderLight will remain anchored in downtown Cleveland, in venues from Playhouse Square to Public Square, making the festival accessible to visitors from across the city and beyond, July 20 – 24.
The BorderLight Festival features a curated selection of international touring productions, and a Fringe Festival featuring all genres of theatrical performances self-produced by local and national artists. Audiences can expect to experience theatre, dance, circus, immersive experiences, puppetry, spoken word, pop-up performances, stand-up comedy and more. Including:
This year’s festival will take place from Public Square in downtown Cleveland to Playhouse Square in venues like the Cleveland Public Library Eastman Branch, US Bank Plaza, The Old Stone Church, Hermit Club and Cibreo Prvato. Under the guidance of public health advisors, BorderLight will follow prevailing CDC guidelines for safely gathering.
There are a number of family friendly shows at Borderlight, like Pajama Stories For All, Maya: The Illusionist, Shadow Realm: Down The Rabbit Hole and many more, so be sure to bring the kids with you to enjoy all the amazing creativity on display.
While you’re downtown, grab a bite at the festival’s restaurant partners like Cibreo Italian Kitchen, Yours Truly, Mabel’s BBQ and Hofbrauhaus Cleveland, which is offering a 10% discount on meals upon showing your festival tickets. And if you’re looking to crash, Crowne Plaza Cleveland at Playhouse Square is offering a discounted rate to BorderLight attendees through this link.
