Playhouse Square welcomes Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater to the KeyBank State Theater to enchant audiences with a moving evening of modern dance.
Enjoying its 60th anniversary, the Ailey company has performed for 25 million people in 71 countries. The world-renowned dance troupe strives to preserve and enrich American modern dance heritage as it celebrates the uniqueness of the African-American experience.
Alvin Ailey authored 79 ballets in his lifetime, drawing inspiration form the blues, spirituals and gospel music. These performances are as powerful and arresting as they are joyful and effervescent.
