On December 5, 1933, the ratification of the 21st Amendment once again made “intoxicating liquors” legal in the United States. Prosperity Social Club is commemorating the end of mandatory temperance with Prohibition-era-inspired food, frivolity and (of course) throwback cocktails on December 5th. The day-long Prohibition Repeal festivities begin with Sunday brunch and continue through dinner (10:30am – 9pm kitchen, 10:30am - 11pm bar).
A Prohibition Repeal Drink Menu features iconic speakeasy cocktails such as the Golden Dawn, the Mary Pickford, the Toronto, the Tipperary, the Sidecar and the Bobby Burns. In addition to Prosperity’s regular scratch-made fare, diners can also get a taste of the time by indulging in throwback specials such as Chicken a la King with mushrooms, peas and carrots in creamy white wine sauce served over fluffy buttermilk biscuits, or Pork Schnitzel accompanied by braised red cabbage and roasted garlic mashed potatoes.
Prosperity staffers will be dapperly dressed in Gatsby-era garb for the celebration and patrons are welcome to join in the fun by donning their own drop waist dresses, striped suit coats or felt fedoras. Dining reservations, while not required, are recommended.
