Often referred to as the Empress of Soul, Gladys Knight has spent several decades impressing fans with her amazing vocals and continued passion, and she continues to do so to this day. Recently, Gladys Knight has also proven herself the empress of genius collaboration, having teamed up with Lenny Kravitz to record "You And I Ain't Nothing No More" for "The Butler" soundtrack. The singer has refrained from going on tour in the past several years, but she is willing to perform at a handful of exclusive concert events, as well as in front of the audiences of "American Idol" and "Dancing with The Stars," for which she was briefly a contestant. Knight’s performances are characterized by her strong voice that never fails to carry out her music and pull the audience onto their feet. The legendary songstress got her start in the music industry when she was only seven years old, competing on Ted Mack's "Original Amateur Hour." From there, Knight and several family members got together to form the Pips, which later became Gladys Knight and the Pips. The group released a number of major hits, including "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," "Friendship Train" and Grammy-winning single "Neither One Of Us." Later, Knight went on to lead a very successful career as a solo artist, releasing the very popular LP Good Woman in 1991, later followed by 1995's Just For You, which received a Grammy nomination. The singer says she has plans to release a new album in 2014 and, perhaps, even sell tickets to exclusive performances of her brand-new material. As always, Knight plans to stick to the soulful style that has elicited so much success these past several decades.
