The Total Solar Eclipse is one of the biggest things to swing by Cleveland since 1806. (And this phenomenon won’t happen again in Cleveland until 2444.) Since this is a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, it’s all the more reason to celebrate in style. We want you to have a blast — whether you’re just here for a weekend or if you’re a Land for Lifer — and there are plenty of events around town for your whole crew.
Head to North Coast Harbor for a three-day celebration with all the bells and whistles hosted by Great Lakes Science Center and the NASA Glenn Research Center. Geek out over virtual and augmented simulations for supersonic flight, walking on Mars, and visiting the International Space Station.
Plus, experience performances by Karamu House and The Cleveland Orchestra alongside a variety of family-friendly activities. Admission to the Festival is free, but there will be food and drinks for purchase as well. Check it out from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday through Monday.
The Cleveland Museum of Natural History is hosting its own bash for the books. In collaboration with the University Circle community, this watch party brings live music and special programming to this monumental day. And when the eclipse starts just before 2 p.m., the party moves outside. No tickets required for this free event, but make sure you arrive a little early to sort out parking.
Get your eclipse glasses, expert advice, and food from local vendors at this City of Avon Lake and Avon Lake City Schools partner event. Tickets range from $15 per person to $25, depending on when you purchase them. Other perks include a dedicated kids play area and a telescope observation area. The fun runs from 11 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
Baseball and the Total Solar Eclipse converge at the Baseball Heritage Museum at League Park on April 8. This ticketed event is donation only, so pay what you can, get your viewing glasses ready, and head to the stands to ooh and ahh at this stellar sensation.
Crocker Park is the spot to be for shopping and food and drink specials. Now, it’s also a place to see the Total Solar Eclipse on full display. This free event is nestled in a prime viewing spot, and glasses will be provided for attendees. Enjoy live music by Apostle Jones while you chill with family and friends.
