Some folks mark their calendars with vacation time, major holidays and birthdays. Those are all wondrous occasions, but for the beer-loving community of Cleveland, there's one time of year that stands above the rest: Cleveland Beer Week. The eighth annual week-long celebration takes place from October 14-22 this year, and with more than 350 events throughout greater Cleveland, it's important to have a plan. Lucky for you, we're experts in regards to both Cleveland and its beer scene, so we'll be your guide to getting the most out of #ClevelandBeerWeek.
Friday, October 14: Collaboration Kickoff The official opening ceremony features eight small batch collaborations from 23 breweries. Grab your "passport" and enjoy all the different brews in bars across your preferred Cleveland neighborhood.
Saturday, October 15: Belgium Social at the Butcher and the Brewer The Belgians know their beer. Enjoy live music, Belgian-inspired food and, of course, a few strong Belgian brews from Duvel, Chimay and many others.
Tuesday, October 18: Culture Yourself, Beer and Cheese pairings at Great Lakes Brewing Company As if you needed an excuse to pair up some tasty cheese and beer, this event gives you the opportunity to meet brewers and food specialists while you imbibe on libations both local and beyond. Some of our favorite breweries on hand include Jolly pumpkin, Rhinegeist and, of course, Great Lakes.
Wednesday, October 19, 2016: Off-Shore Pour on the Nautica Queen See the city from the unique perspective of the Cuyahoga River on one of Cleveland's best kept secrets, the Nautica Queen. Discover the revitalized Flats while you enjoy rare and craft beers. We won't judge if you yell out an "I'm king of the world" or two.
Friday, October 21: Beer and Chocolate Extravaganza at the Heinens Rotunda Because, chocolate! The show-stopping Heinens Downtown hosts a decedent celebration in preparation for the sweetest day of the year: Halloween. Let your sweet tooth enjoy artisanal chocolates paired perfectly from brews from the likes of Founders, Stone Brewing, Southern Tier and more.
Friday, October 21: Cleveland Beer Week Ales on Rails on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad Discover the scenic Cuyahoga Valley by train while being treated to a tasty supper paired with seven different craft beers from 21st Amendment, Anderson Valley, Deschutes and more.
