History hasn't always been easy on us. But pressure can create diamonds. Come check out our gems.
Walking the corridors of a haunted house typically means you’ll come terrifyingly close to performers portraying evil clowns, blood-thirsty zombies and madmen wielding chainsaws.
It’s funny when you’re 16.
But when you’re six? Yeah, it’s not cool.
Thankfully, Cleveland knows there’s a lot more to do during the Halloween season than create a lifetime of phobias for your minis. After all, small children are at that oh-so-adorable time in their lives when the magic of costumes, pumpkin carving and trick-or-treating is not yet lost.
Here are a few totally family-friendly Halloween happenings for your littles:
The Great Pumpkin Fest | Cedar Point
Thanks to its massive collection of roller coasters boasting superlatives like tallest, fastest and largest, Cedar Point is no stranger to being on the slightly scary side. During the fall, however, the park is transformed into the Great Pumpkin Fest, complete with kid-friendly shows, pumpkin painting, hay mazes and even a parade. (Oct. 1-2, 8-9, 15-16, 22-23, 29-30)
Boo at the Zoo | Cleveland Metroparks Zoo
A Cleveland tradition, the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo transforms into something downright boo-tiful every Halloween. Boo at the Zoo returns with a spooky train ride, eight trick-or-treat stations, magic shows and a dance party. (Oct. 20-23, 27-30)
Hauntaquarium | Greater Cleveland Aquarium
The scariest part of the Halloween event at the Greater Cleveland Aquarium? Coming nose-to-nose with huge sharks in the SeaTube. Otherwise, they event is a fun, family-friendly way to creatively celebrate Halloween complete with tricks, treats and even costumed scuba divers. (Oct. 21-22, 28-29)
Spooktacular Science Weekend | Great Lakes Science Center
Mad scientists, meet your match! Spooktacular Science Weekend at the Great Lakes Science Center will have kiddos learning a little STEM whilst creating chemical potions, exploding pumpkins and electrocuting pickles. (Oct. 22-23)
Boo-tanical Bash | The Cleveland Botanical Garden
Little boos and ghouls can get their game on at this University Circle attraction with Halloween garden hikes, hands-on crafts, dancing and candy-collecting galore. (Oct. 22)
The Children’s Halloween Train | Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad
All aboard a special, spooky afternoon train ride through a beautiful national park. Kiddos should come dressed in costume, prepared for treats and ready to get autographs from Cinderella, Rapunzel and Dracula. (Oct. 29)
Owls & Howls | Cleveland Museum of Natural History
Kids can enjoy a not-so-scary, but totally fun, afternoon of enrichment with animal exhibitions, hands-on crafts, pumpkin decorating, spooky experiments and experiences that’ll awaken your inner archaeologist. (Oct. 29)
