In Cleveland, we’ve got world-class experiences without the world-class ego. And for that, you’re welcome.
Here in Cleveland, we’ve got beef cheek in our pierogi, truffles on our hot dogs and beer in our donuts. Balance.
Whether you’re into the thread count of your linens or just a place to crash for the night, we’ve got a hotel room with your name all over it.

If you’re thinking about heading Downtown for a first date, here are some options that are almost guaranteed to get you a second, unless of course you mess things up yourself (you’re on your own with that one.) The only issue with this date itinerary is the fact that it’s so on point it will be hard to follow up. This is a date night that does not make you look like you’re trying too hard. Even if you are 30 years happily married, this is a good (cheap) way to spend a nice night out with your spouse. Keep in mind this is a pretty busy night so not all these stops need to be hit, but I recommend doing it all, because well frankly it worked pretty well for me. I got that second date.
The Corner Alley is a great way to start the night thanks to the atmosphere. It sits right on the corner of East Fourth Street and Euclid Ave. On warm nights the garage style doors are opened and the summer breeze flows throughout the whole bar. Walk in, order a craft beer from the bar right next to the bowling alley, and start knocking down some pins. Or at least give it a try, anything over 100 and I am a happy dude. This is a great way to get the blood flowing and start the night.
If your date survived Corner Alley, congrats! You’re doing a good job. The second place on my list is only 3.3 miles from the Corner Alley, aka a short Uber ride. It’s called Edgewater Live; Cleveland’s weekly beach party on the shores of Lake Erie. This is why this date-night specifically has to be on a Thursday, but you probably needed an excuse to start your weekend early anyway. This is one of my favorite things to do in the whole city and is the perfect place to bring a date. Walking into this atmosphere is something that cannot be matched anywhere else. Waiting in line for a cold one is a lot easier when the live band is playing some awesome tunes. Stop by the food trucks and lay a blanket down on the beach to watch a Cleveland sunset that can really only be understood by seeing it.
From there we're going to travel only 1.1 miles away to Capitol Theater. The screens at this movie theater are about half the size of standard theaters which gives the theater a cozy feeling. This is not a luxurious movie theater with reclining seats and gourmet nachos. It is old school. I instantly fell in love with this place due to its uniqueness (and the fact that they sell Great Lakes Brewing Company beers at the concession stand.) Being able to have a nice cold beer makes any movie just a little bit better. Something about the old fashion feel of this place just really makes it a more romantic atmosphere without even trying. This is the perfect way to top off not only a great date, but just an awesome night in Cleveland.
