Cedar Point, the "Roller Coaster Capital of the World," kicks off another thrilling season full of adventure, family fun and excitement on May 6. Despite already being the #1 rated amusement park on the planet with 70 rides including 17 roller coasters, Cedar Point continues to up its awesome-factor.
Cedar Point Shores
New to the park in 2017 is Cedar Point Shores, a water park featuring 18 acres of new attractions including slides, lagoons and rapids. Not to mention the 16 water slides, including (if you're brave enough) Point Plummet, a near-vertical six story free fall body slide. No your jam? Challenge your friends on the riptide-raceway for a little friendly competition. You'll also find some great food--to avoid cramping up from swimming on a full stomach and proving your mom right (again), head over to the lazy rivers and cabanas.
Iron Dragon: Virtual Reality
Here's a twist for you: The new version of an old favorite combines the thrills of the classic coaster with a virtual reality headset that puts riders in the mythical world of the Iron Dragon. The alternate world is filled with jerks like angry ogres, villagers and flying creatures trying to ruin your peaceful carriage ride. Yeah. That's happening.
Battle for Cedar Point
Team up! Back for year two, you can join your favorite "coaster alliance" by competing in trivia competitions and mini-games while waiting for your turn on a ride. Battle for Cedar Point is available in the Cedar Point mobile app so you don't have to awkwardly make eye contact with other guests as you pass them for the 40th time in zigzagging lines.
Cedar Point Sports Center
In addition to the rides, attractions and entertainment, Cedar Point is also unveiling a brand new Sports Center just a few miles from the park itself. Phase one of this Cedar Point Sports Center features a number of NCAA regulations soccer, baseball, softball and lacrosse fields and will host youth sports tournaments throughout the season. You'll also find miniature golf, trampolines and a large playground area. Coaches and teams can now make reservations and book tournaments.
Stay the night
It's impossible to experience everything Cedar Point has to offer in one day, so make your trip a full weekend by staying in one of Cedar Point's seven hotels and resorts including Hotel Breakers, ranked in the sixth best family-friendly hotel by TripAdvisor. Packages include options for early park entry, tickets for both Cedar Point and Cedar Point Shores, discounted prices and more.
