Important Considerations for International Travel
Customs and Border Protection:
If you’ve arrived in The Land directly from one of the foreign locations offering the U.S. Customs & Border Protection preclearance program (including Dublin), you’re all set and can proceed directly to baggage claim or ground transportation.
All others — upon arrival in the U.S. — will go through Customs and Border Protection at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. Be ready to present:
- Passport
- Visa (If applicable)
- Customs declaration form
- Any required documentation for entry (e.g., hotel reservations, return ticket)
Other Important Considerations:
- Be aware of the duration of your authorized stay, as overstaying can have consequences for future travel to the U.S.
- Consider purchasing travel insurance that covers health emergencies, trip cancellations, and other unforeseen events.
Visas and Passports
Passports:
- Validity: Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your planned departure date from the U.S. (unless your country is part of the Six-Month Club, which has different rules).
- Condition: Ensure your passport is in good condition without damage that might affect its readability.
- Lost Passport: To replace your foreign passport, you will need to contact either the local consulate office for the country in which your passport was issued (click here for a link to foreign consulate offices in Ohio) or your embassy in Washington, D.C.
