8 Cleveland Holiday Brews to Warm Up Your Winter

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year for Beer in CLE

Dairian Heard November 03, 2022

Like the jolly old soul in the red suit himself, Cleveland’s brewery scene is working just a little harder to bring us something special during the holidays. When people line the streets waiting for the first tap of your seasonal brew, you know you’re doing something right. Holiday rush getting to you? Take a moment for yourself, grab one of these frosty anxiety-reducers and remember the reason for the season.

Christmas Ale (Great Lakes Brewing Co.)

Cue the thirsty throngs, who clamor each year for that first taste of Christmas Ale—and for good reason. As Cleveland’s OG seasonal sip, it’s the gold standard by which all of the city’s holiday brews are judged.

12 Dogs of Christmas (Thirsty Dog Brewing Co.)

12 Dogs rings in the holiday season with a focus on spice, without killing revelers with sweetness. The nutmeg and cinnamon hit right off the bat, and the honey finish tames the spice rather than overpowering it.

Merry Xmas Ya Filthy Animal (Hansa Brewery)

Cleveland’s resident German beer hall rings in the holiday season with this powerful Belgian Quad aged in whiskey barrels. And with a 15% ABV, this “Home Alone” homage might leave you making a Macaulay Culkin face.

8 Crazy Nights (Collision Bend)

If you celebrate Hanukkah, you’re in luck—Collision Bend has one of the few local brews highlighting the Festival of Lights. Not Jewish? You can order one anyway, and you should (or risk missing out on this standout apple-and-clove amber).

Sleigh All Day Red IPA (Masthead Brewing Co.)

With its tropical aroma and citrusy pine notes, this IPA will help you slay in more than one way as you ring in the holiday season.

Three Hos (Saucy Brew Works)

Have you been naughty or nice? If your answer is the former and you love malt, this “saucy” brew might be the drink for you. Tip back this red ale with “Cleveland-style” spices for a “ho-ho-ho”-liday to remember.

Pecan Brown Ale (Sibling Revelry Brewing)

Are those chestnuts we smell? Nope, those are pecans! Grab your annoying sibling and mend fences over this not-so-pale ale with a smooth, nutty and sweet finish—sure to make you forget about all those family feuds happening this holiday season.

Pimp My Sleigh (Fat Head’s Brewery)

This beer is rolling in style with its multitudes of aromas and flavors: sweet dark malt, raisins, figs and dark fruit. Any kid on the nice list would be sure to find this in Santa’s sleigh if they’re lucky enough to sneak a peek!
