NBA All-Star Weekend Transportation

Public Transit (RTA)

Cleveland’s Regional Transit Authority system is rather substantial with bus, trolley and train lines all throughout the city. Be sure to visit RTA’s website to plan your routes and purchase fares online before heading to the city.

The All-Star Line trolley offers service between Public Square, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, the Wolstein Center and Cleveland Public Auditorium, among other points of interest and downtown hotels. Check out the map below for a detailed look at the route. The All-Star Line trolley will operate during the following dates and times:

  • Friday, Feb. 18 from 7pm to 11pm
  • Saturday, Feb. 19 from 9am to midnight
  • Sunday, Feb. 20 from 9am to midnight

Road Closures During All-Star Game

Please be aware that there will be traffic restrictions and other road closures in place in Downtown Cleveland during the 2022 NBA All-Star Game Weekend. Download this map and be sure to leave yourself plenty of time to navigate your way through Downtown Cleveland during this exciting, major event.

Road closures take effect at the following days/times/locations:

  • Road closures surrounding Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse take effect Friday, Feb. 18 at noon through Monday, Feb. 21 at 2 a.m.
  • Road closures surrounding CSU Wolstein Center take effect Friday, Feb. 18 at 9:30 a.m. through Monday, Feb. 21 at 2 a.m.
  • Road closures surrounding Public Auditorium take effect Wednesday, Feb. 16 at midnight through Monday, Feb. 21 at 2 a.m.

Walk

According to Walk Score, a popular internet site for ranking pedestrian-friendly cities, Downtown Cleveland is considered a "walkers paradise." Most attractions in Downtown Cleveland can be reached within a 20-minute walk.

In addition, PCMA's Convene magazine ranked the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland number four on the "Top 15 Convention Centers in Highly Walkable Places" list. That means returning to the hotel room for a quick break between sessions is no biggie.

Yellow-clad Downtown ambassadors patrol the streets to ensure safety and cleanliness, answer questions, offer friendly greetings or give helpful directions.


Taxi Cab & Ride Share Services

While in Cleveland, taxi cab and ride share services are available throughout the region, Downtown and at the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. So, save the driving for someone else with one of these transportation businesses.


Scooter Share

Rent shared mobility scooters for quick and easy transportation around Cleveland. The following e-scooters are available from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Simply download the respective app on your smartphone and follow the prompts to create an account and get scooting.

Parking Facilities (Garages/Surface Lots)

Parking Meters

Metered parking is available throughout Downtown. Please follow all posted parking directives and plan accordingly. For road closures during All-Star Weekend, click here.


Bike Share

One of the breeziest and most fun ways to explore Cleveland? On a bike. Thanks to several bikeshare companies, renting a bike for the day is an especially easy feat for visitors to The Land. There are several options in and around downtown, as well as options within the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Towpath Trail.

From Cleveland Hopkins International Airport

Light Rail

RTA offers convenient rail service between the airport and Downtown Cleveland. The trip takes 25 minutes; Red Line trains depart from the airport’s Terminal Lower Level every 20 minutes. A one-way pass costs $2.50, a daily pass costs $5.00 and a 5-trip fare costs $12.50. Download RTA's free mobile app for more information.

Taxis

Pickups and drop-offs are made at the taxi entrance at the South end of Baggage Claim. A representative from the taxi companies will be present at the south entrance to assist our customers.

Ride Sharing

Shared ride services Lyft and Uber pick up on the arrivals level, just select the door where you desire to be met.

Shuttle/Limousine Service

Hotel shuttles pick up in the Ground Transportation Center located outside Door 1 on the baggage claim level.

Charter transportation and limousine companies offer rides to and from the airport as well as private charters and VIP transfers, with arrangement made in advance. All limousine and shuttle operations are currently operating on the East end of the terminal in the old Limo Lot.

Rental Cars

There is a consolidated rental car facility located off the airport grounds. Shuttle service is available for all rental car customers from the main terminal to the rental car facility, and departs from the Ground Transportation Center (GTC). The GTC is located at the North end of the terminal on baggage level. The shuttle bus ride from the terminal to the rental car facility takes approximately 5-7 minutes. The shuttle buses run continuously 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The rental car facility is located at 19601 Maplewood Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44135.

Travelers can utilize the 2 banks of elevators across from the welcome center or escalators by claim 9 and claim 3 to access the baggage claim level. For travelers needing assistance, a telephone center with rental car information is located at the info counter at Baggage Claim.
