Cleveland (May 1, 2024) – May is Asian American Pacific Islander Month and the perfect chance for Clevelanders to celebrate the rich and diverse Asian culture in The Land. From the Cleveland Asian Festival to year-round opportunities, locals and their guests can celebrate the history and heritage of Cleveland’s Asian community in a variety of ways.

Cleveland Asian Festival (May 18-19): There is no better time to experience the culture of Cleveland’s AsiaTown than during the Cleveland Asian Festival. The neighborhood is home to more than 20 family-owned businesses representing cultures from across Asia. The festival, which is free to enter, will host live entertainment, a world marketplace and food from more than 25 different local restaurants.

Special Exhibits at the Cleveland Museum of Art: The Cleveland Museum of Art is currently hosting a variety of special exhibits that celebrate the history of Asian art. Options include Korean Couture: Generations of Revolution, Carpets and Canopies in Mughal India, Six Dynasties of Chinese Paintings and Into The Seven Jeweled Mountains: An Immersive Experience.

AAPI Heritage Celebration with the Cleveland Guardians (May 31): The Guardians will bring the month’s celebrations to a close with their AAPI Night. Spectators will experience an inclusive game kicked off with the ceremonial first pitch by local politician Matthew Ahn and the National Anthem performed by Filipina singer/songwriter Jeserey Sanchez. Fans can upgrade their experience by purchasing a special ticket package to receive a limited-edition t-shirt with the “AAPI C” logo.

CAM International Market: CAM International Market in North Randall offers locals a chance to bring the flavors of Asia into their homes. The international market boasts a wide variety of pantry staples, sauces, seasonings and snacks, featuring items from Korea, China, Japan and more.

YYTime: Formerly a tire shop, the newly opened YYTime in AsiaTown is a 10,000 square-foot food hall described as a testament to innovation and passion for Asian street food. Inspired by the night markets of Taiwan, YYTime offers an array of favorite dishes and fun beverages, making it a must-stop place.
