CLEVELAND - (August 29) - Downtown Cleveland continues to thrive with the addition of the luxury resort, The 9. It opens this September, making it a game changer for Cleveland's reorganization. It's out-of-the-box amenities, and bold designs make it a marquee destination for locals and guests. The former AmeriTrust tower and historic Cleveland Trust Rotunda have been transformed into The 9, which houses the new Metropolitan Hotel for travelers and Concierge Living apartments for residents. The locally owned grocery store, Heinen's Market, will be located inside the rotunda. The dining and cocktail environments, combined with one-of-a-kind special event spaces, will redefine how Clevelanders and their guests live, work and play in the city.
The Metropolitan Hotel is located inside The 9 and is affiliated with Autograph Collection®, Marriott International's exclusive collection of more than 50 independent hotels that have been carefully selected for their chic decor, distinct style, guests' travel interests and experiences. The hotel has 156 boldly designed rooms and suites. The 9 introduces many first-time lavish amenities to its hotel guests and residents, such as access to an indoor dog park, 24-hour housekeeping, valet and concierge services, spa and gym.
Guests won't need a passport to experience fine, modern Mediterranean cuisine if they choose to dine at Adega. The restaurant features a12-foot wine vault, chef's table and the largest outdoor dining patio in the city. Adega also features 3 private dining rooms for groups up to 80. The 9 has over 14,000 feet of total event space. Each space features cutting-edge technology, creative catering menus, live entertainment, stylish décor and an expert event planning staff. From the 68-seat, high-end Alex Theater to the lavish 5200-square-foot Mint Ballroom, there are many options for weddings, meetings or special events. During the week, Vault at The 9's high-energy lounge and Speakeasy can be used for meeting rooms.
"The 9's style and amenities create a cosmopolitan lifestyle, setting it apart from any other luxury resort in the country," said Greg Geis, CEO of GEIS Companies. "Bold and unexpected is the norm at The 9, blurring the lines between everyday and escape," Geis added.
In basement of the former Cleveland Trust rotunda, four historic safety deposit rooms have been transformed into The 9's probation-era bar and lounge, Vault. Completely separated from Vault, there is the exclusive Speakeasy. It is invitation-only and will only cater to Cleveland's elite. Guests that want to have a drink 150 feet above the street may do so at Azure. It is the largest rooftop bar and sundeck in the city. Extensive views of Cleveland's skylines can be seen from the roof of the newly renovated 1010 building on Euclid Ave.
"Vault and Azure provide a vibrant nightlife for guests to see, and be seen. The 9 is a place to come to celebrate Cleveland's rich history and exciting future," explained Geis.
Residents of The 9 can choose choos from 104 spacious Concierge Living apartments. There are 16 custom-designed Sky Suites with massive windows that provide panoramic views of downtown Cleveland. All residences within The 9 will have full access to the Metropolitan Hotel's guest services including an indoor dog park, 24-hour housekeeping, valet, private chef and concierge services, spa and gym. Bellmen at The 9 have intuitive technology to recognize and anticipate the needs of residents and visitors.
Located on Euclid Ave., the newly renovated 1010 Building is also a part of The 9. The building has been completely transformed into The Boutique Suites, consisting of 90 chic, market-rate apartments. Selections of The Boutique Suites are available to its employees at a subsidized rate to promote its "work-live environment" downtown.
Cleveland-based GEIS Companies teamed with Sandvick Architects of Cleveland (a consultant on the project that specializes in revising historic structures) and brought new life to an abandoned area of the city. The team not only preserved the iconic architectural features of the historic buildings but incorporated the original designs with modern technology to create an old-meets-new design. GEIS Property Management, urban construction offices and GEIS Design Center are now located inside The 9. However, its headquarters will remain in Streetsboro, Ohio.
GEIS Companies expanded its services by creating, GEIS Hospitality Group and partnered with Denver-based Greenwood Hospitality Group to manage The 9 and Metropolitan Hotel. The group plans to seek and develop similar projects around the country using The 9 as a prototype.
