The scene: You know a restaurant is truly a classic when the James Beard Foundation, the Academy Awards of food, names it an "American Classic." That’s exactly what they did for Sokolowski’s University Inn two years ago. Sokolowski’s is the oldest family-owned restaurant in Cleveland, since 1923, and third-generation owners will celebrate its 93rd birthday this year. The freestanding restaurant near the Cuyahoga River in the Tremont neighborhood has sort of a Bavarian-style brick and dark wood exterior. Read more.
