Hot dogs + tater tots = A 'happy' time in Cleveland

The scene: Happy Dog occupies a former neighborhood corner tavern in Cleveland's Gordon Square Arts District, and little has been done to change the feel since it opened seven years ago. The large space has a substantial oval-shaped island bar in the center, with dual double-sided service stations offering two dozen choices on tap, many of them local and regional (plus another 80 in bottles and cans). The bar is encircled with red-topped chrome diner stools and many regulars eat at the counter, while the perimeter of the room is ringed with heavy booths and high-top bar tables.
