Summer returns to CLE. Time to party.

Summer in The Land

Sure, Cleveland winters can be a bit...much. But that turns the city’s summers into a season-long celebration of sun, food, music, beaches and fun. With an average temp of 80 degrees, The Land is the place to celebrate summertime.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Partner

Cuyahoga Valley National Park encompasses 33,000 acres along the Cuyahoga River between Cleveland and Akron. Managed by the National Park Services, it combines cultural, historical, recreational and natural activities in one setting. People can start their visit to the park at the centrally located Boston Mill Visitor Center.

The park also includes facilities to support group events. A 4,000 square-foot Great Hall and spacious screened porch make Happy Days Lodge an ideal venue for large organizational events and group retreats. This space offers a unique getaway from the office, including an easily accessible trailhead adjacent to the parking area. In addition, the convenient location between Akron and Cleveland and easy access from routes 8, 271, and 77 make this a great choice for traveling guests. Happy Days Lodge has modern AV equipment with a large pull-down screen and excellent sound system.

The Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center sits on 500 beautiful acres of meadows, ponds, and forests. Our Lipscomb and White Pines campuses provide a comfortable overnight experience for larger conferences, retreats, or other events. The dormitory facilities are situated in a beautiful area surrounded by several walking trails, ponds, sitting areas, and quaint wooded spots. Amenities include temperature control, wheelchair accessibility, meeting spaces, and kitchen facilities housed in restored historic farmsteads. Lipscomb and White Pines campuses can each accommodate up to 64 guests.

On the White Pines campus, overnight groups can prepare their own food in a self-service kitchen. The Conservancy can also provide meals through our in-house food service department. Each campus has an outdoor fire circle, which enhances the outdoor experience and offers groups an opportunity to bond while enjoying the beauty of a starlit night. If you're interested in outdoor programming for your group during your stay, we also offer programs from our education staff. These programs focus on environmental awareness in and around the national park and can be modified to fit diverse age groups.

Travel Update

We encourage you to consult businesses' websites and social handles for information on current hours.

The Octagon Shelter is named for its shape. During the summer months the walls are removed; they are in place from about October 15 to May 1. The Octagon Shelter is also near the Ritchie Ledges, hiking trails, and a large field. There are seven indoor picnic tables, two fireplaces, and an outside grill. It accommodates up to 50 people.
