The Cleveland Grays, Cuyahoga Arts and Culture, and the Cleveland Architect Foundation present The Architectural and Sculptural Legacy of Levi T. Scofield with Tom O’Grady on Monday, Feb 24, 2020, at 6 pm. During the 19th century, master-builder Levi T. Scofield designed several publicly acclaimed buildings—most notably the Mansfield Reformatory Prison, Cuyahoga County’s Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument, and the Athens State Asylum. He also designed private homes for Millionaires’ Row and his own mansion. Recently, the former Scofield Mansion, residing in the Woodland area, was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Beyond his architectural legacy, Scofield also created two major sculptural works, first viewed at the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Today, unfortunately, only a few of his masterpieces remain. Please join us at Grays Armory on Monday, February 24, 2020 (6pm) for The Architectural and Sculptural Legacy of Levi T. Scofield. All Unwritten History presentations are free and open to the public. An optional dinner (choice of chicken alfredo or eggplant parmesan, rice pilaf, green beans, salad, roll, and dessert; $25) is available with advance registration. Registration and dinner orders are required by Feb 18, 2020. Note: EventBrite fees (EventBrite policy) and Dinner Tickets are nonrefundable (Catering Deposits).
