R.E.D. stands for Remember Everyone Deployed. And it was the passion of veteran and co-race director, Jeff Swislocki, to bring this event to life. The R.E.D. 5k and Workout is a two part event with a timed 5k Run/Walk followed by a 22 minute segmented Crossfit-inspired workout. All ages and abilities are welcome. Funds from the race will benefit NEOPAT (https://www.neopat.org/about/), a local organization focused on improving the lives of our veterans. Why 22? Because every 22 minutes, another veteran commits suicide. It is a grim reality to face but one that cannot be ignored. Why RED? RED is both an acronym and the color to wear on Fridays in remembrance of our Veterans.Event Location: Upper Pavilion, Edgewater Park, 6700 Cleveland Memorial Shoreway, Cleveland, OH 44102 Start Time: – 5k 9:00 AM – Workout Heat Times: 9:30 AM, 9:55 AM, 10:20 AM, 10:55 AM (Heats will open up when previous heats fill) -Cost:Event & Pint Glass – $22/person – Event, Pint Glass, & Shirt – $35/person *Shirts are an awesome, long sleeve, heather blend shirt How the WOD Works (click for link to aerial view): – Run 1 loop upper bowl Then complete in order – 22 pushups – 22 situps – 22 goblet squats – 22 single arm alternating power snatches (11/11) – 22 single arm push press (11/11) – 22 American Kb swings – 22 Kb alternating lunges – 22 single arm alternating power cleans (11/11) – 22 sumo deadlift high pulls – 22 Single Arm Thrusters (11/11) – 22 burpees – Run 1 loop upper bowl Time Cap – 22 minutes Prescribed kettlebell weight: Men – 53lbs | Women – 35lbs but scale as needed.
