The Summer of Love contributed much culturally that endures today, including the chillest block party in town — the inaugural Hessler Street Fair. Fifty years later, the event is still going strong, due in large part to the organizers’ dedication to keeping that hippie vibe of peace and love.
The cul de sac at Hessler Road, near Mayfield Road and Euclid Avenue in University Circle, welcomes one and all to the pride of their neighborhood, a celebration of art and hand-made goods, delicious street food, live music, poetry and even the occasional vaudeville show. The first festival saw people partying from their porches, now they shut down the street to accommodate its growth.
Hessler Street Fair isn’t a ‘60s nostalgia trip so much as it’s about connecting with real Clevelanders and the incredible things they’re making — whether it’s crafts, food or music. [TIP: Make sure you bring cash; some vendors don’t always take credit card.]
It's all happening June 1 and 2, 2019.
