Vintage Ohio Wine Festival turns 25! To commemorate and celebrate 25 years of success for one of the country's most iconic wine and food events, the original supporters of Vintage Ohio Wine Festival will be not only showcasing their finest viniferas and sparklers, but illustrating to the world of how far their wines have come in the past quarter century. Wednesday, July 31, just before the Festival opens it's doors on August 2, on the grounds of Lake Metroparks' Farmpark, seven winemakers will celebrate with an elegant, 6-course meal where courses will be matched perfectly with some of the state's best wines. The dinner will begin at 6:30. Cost is $129 per couple and $70 per person. Advance reservations are required and tickets will be limited. 25th Anniversary Celebration Dinner Menu Aperitif Reièm Brut American Sparkling Wine from Meiers Wine Cellars - their driest sparkling wine. Fourth Course Braised Short Rib / Polenta Valley Vineyards Ohio River Valley Cabernet Franc. The wine opens with concentrated aromas of cherry and black currant, layered with vibrant spic notes of nutmeg, anise and cinnamon. Firelands 2015 Isle St. George Cabernet Sauvignon. Classic, dark red, chocolate, mint, cedar flavors, to a blackberry finish. Dessert Chocolate Covered Strawberries Meier’s Winery #44 Cream Sherry-The wine is our premier sherry. The base is a blend of Niagara and Muscat wines. Grape spirits are added to “fortify” the blend. The wine is then aged in 50 gallon barrels for at least three hot Cincinnati summers. The heat and the barrel aging result in a wine rich in nose and in flavor. The evening is sponsored by the Ohio Wine Producers Association and coordinated by Lauren Fiala, WSET Level 4 candidate and wine specialist at the Lodge at Geneva on the Lake, Ohio's Wine Country Resort.
