The Jesus Lizard formed in late 80s Austin, TX, after David Yow (vocals) and David Wm. Sims (bass) disbanded Scratch Acid. Joined by Duane Denison (guitar) and a drum machine, they recorded their debut EP, *Pure*, with Steve Albini in 1989. After moving to Chicago, they replaced the drum machine with Mac McNeilly (drums) and recorded their first full-length, *Head*, in 1990 for Touch and Go. Often described as "seminal" and "legendary," the band released five more remarkable LPs before disbanding in 1999, including the acclaimed *Blue*. Known for their relentless touring, Pitchfork noted, "the Jesus Lizard raised a bar that few bands have reached since." Their upcoming December tour will showcase their unmatched live prowess, with Stereogum calling them "one of the greatest live bands ever." After regrouping in 2008, they toured worldwide, but have no future performances scheduled beyond this December.
