About the Music:
- RAVEL Rapsodie espagnole
- RAVEL Piano Concerto in G major
- TCHAIKOVSKY Symphony No. 4
“Gradually I have fallen more and more under the spell of the work,” Tchaikovsky wrote when composing his Fourth Symphony, “and now I can hardly tear myself away from it.” At once dramatic and life-affirming, the Fourth is one of Tchaikovsky’s most beloved creations. Music Director Franz Welser-Möst precedes this with two works by Ravel: his jazz-inspired Piano Concerto in G major — performed by the remarkable Seong-Jin Cho — and the sizzling Rapsodie espagnole. This program’s Concert Preview lectures will be presented by Francesca Brittan, Associate Professor of Music, Case Western Reserve University.
