Taste, Experience, Discover: Saint Sava Annual Serb Fest For almost 50 years, right here in our own backyard lives a beautiful Serbian community at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral on Broadview Rd. On July 18th and 19th, it will hold its Serbian Festival, which has served as an annual celebration of Serbian and Eastern European heritage. The church invites all to discover the heart of Serbia and experience the rich culture, traditions, and tastes of the old world. A wide variety of traditional Serbian foods and ethnic fare – including spit-roasted lamb and pig, ćevaps, sarma, gibanica, Serbian beer, and much more – will be available. Additionally, authentic Serbian and European desserts will be available including our most popular items, “krofne,” (Serbian donuts) and “palacinka” (crepes). The event will also include free tours of the cathedral, which is adorned with beautiful frescoes from the walls to the top of the church’s dome. The fresco project, which was completed by the School of Iconography and Preservation in Belgrade, took nearly seven years to complete. For those who love and appreciate art and iconography, it’s an opportunity you don’t want to miss. Admission and parking are FREE, and the festival will be held rain or shine!
