Maryna Krut is a Ukrainian singer and virtuoso on the bandura, a stringed instrument unique to Ukraine that looks and sounds like a hybrid of lute and harp. Maryna’s compelling, soulful performances evoke both folk traditions and modern sensibilities, with pop and jazz flourishes. She often represents Ukraine at official events and performs for soldiers in the current war zone; she has appeared at the Edinburgh International Culture Summit, Montreal Ukrainian Festival, and is a Eurovision finalist. In Ukraine, she gained a national following after appearances on that country’s versions of The X Factor and The Voice as well as placing in Eurovision. Now she is expanding her audience as she brings the story and culture of Ukraine to the world. “Not only is she a virtuoso on her 65-string harp, but she has a voice from the heavens, covering all the colors of the human vocal rainbow, seemingly effortlessly.” Banning Eyre – AFROPOP
