In historic Decatur, GA, Lunar Vacation lives in an old house that hasn't been renovated. Despite a crumbly porch, a leaky roof, and one bathroom for five band members, they enjoy the experience. “We go on tour and share a hotel room for a month, then come back to the same house,” says guitarist Maggie Geeslin.
Their small vegetable garden and cozy living room are ideal for house shows and jam sessions. Engineer and bassist Ben Wulkan transformed the living room into a makeshift studio for their sophomore album, Everything Matters, Everything’s Fire.
The album reflects their growth as friends and musicians, embracing an organic sound inspired by artists like Yo La Tengo and Björk. “Our last album was super produced; this one’s organic,” Maggie explains. In essence, everything matters, and everything’s fire.
