The taps are on, the beer is pouring, and class is in session! Head down to Ohio City to expand your beer knowledge at Hop College: Beer 101.
Students who enroll in Hop College: Beer 101 will head to the “classroom” where GLBC Cicerone certified Beer Educators crack open the story of beer – where it came from, how it’s made, and the best way to taste it. Our Beer Educators will help you tap into a deeper understanding of craft beer the GLBC way, by taking a look at our brewery, history, and philosophy. There won’t be any textbooks, but we will have plenty of beer to help enhance your learning. We will be studying:
Vibacious Double IPA
Crushworthy Lo-Cal Citrus Wheat
Kickaround POG Tart
Dortmunder Gold Lager
Edmund Fitzgerald Porter
Each General Admission ticket will include one 5 oz. pour of each beer, so have those taste buds ready! Students who participate in this class will receive a special Hop College branded nonic pint glass and notebook, as well as official beer nerd bragging rights.
This class also includes a tour of the brewery for an up close and personal look at how our wonderful liquid is brewed, cellared, and packaged.
Visitors planning to visit the brewery MUST wear closed-toe shoes (i.e. boots or sneakers; no flip flops or sandals.) This is for your personal safety and the safety of our guests. Our brewery is housed in a 19th century building with narrow spaces and multiple stairwells. Be aware that breweries are hot and loud, especially in packaging areas and during the summer months.
Graduate at the bottom of your glass at Hop College, where our taproom is your classroom!
