About the Music:
Bright trumpet fanfares herald the opening of Bach’s Easter Oratorio, which was first performed in Leipzig in 1725. Following his all-Mozart program in the 2022–23 season, conductor Bernard Labadie returns to Severance for an all-Bach evening with The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus and a roster of star soloists. Labadie pairs this festive work with Bach’s equally joyous Magnificat, which sets Mary’s song of praise from the Gospel of Luke.
