A Trio Concert: An Afternoon of Chamber Music

Join us for an inspiring performance by passionate musicians who will perform a variety of music, where there is something for everyone. Stephen Sims, D.M.A. violin/viola, Kellen Degnan, M.M., cello, and Sharon Brown Cheston, Ph.D., piano will join forces for an exciting, diverse program.

This concert is a celebration of music from the Renaissance period through American Rhythm and Blues. We will begin with early music selections from the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book, arranged for violin, cello, and piano. Music of world renown Cleveland native composer, Hale Smith, will explore the amalgamation of his classical training with his jazz skills to create a flawless arrangement of a traditional spiritual. Hayden's piano trio No. 39 in G Major will be performed, as well as as music by Rhythm and Blues performer-songwriter, Eldra "El" DeBarge.
