Ohio Vintage Decoys and Wildlife Art Mega-Shows to be held in March Two shows on the same weekend, at the same location make this the largest in-person collecting and carving event in the Midwest! The Ohio Decoy Collectors and Carvers Association, and the Great Lakes Decoy Association, have joined together to hold their two shows March 18 – 19, 2023, Saturday and Sunday, at the Holiday Inn Cleveland South, 6001 Rockside Rd., Independence OH., 44131, just 12 miles from downtown Cleveland. Vintage and contemporary decoys, fish decoys and tackle, hunting and fishing memorabilia, and wildlife art will be for sale throughout the weekend in the ballroom and hotel rooms. Carving supplies, specialty woods, patterns, reference books and more! In 2022, new records were set as 225 carvers/artists from throughout the USA and Canada competed in 24 contests for over $11,000 in prize money. Carvers entered over 550 duck decoys, shorebirds, songbirds, owls, raptors, marsh critters, fish decoys, and jigging sticks. Carving and painting styles range from highly decorative and life-like to simplistic traditional designs. Sunday morning the popular Wildfowler contests will be held the hotel pool. Last year, over 150 single decoys competed for the $500 top cash prize, and the top rig $150. This is believed to be the largest working decoy contest in the country! Many of the decoys are purchased by collectors poolside. Known as a family-friendly show, adults and kids can watch hands-on carving and painting demonstrations throughout the weekend. ODCCA also is the official host for the Ohio Junior Federal Duck Stamp contest and the entries will be judged and on display at the show. Show hours are Saturday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., and Sunday, 4 a.m. to 3.pm. Weekend admission is $5 and includes a collectible show button designed by Ohio artist Matt Clayton.
