The city of Cleveland doesn’t need an excuse to party, but it helps. Opening Day has been an unofficial holiday for this town since the days when Cleveland Municipal Stadium lit up the shore of Lake Erie.
Progressive Field keeps that tradition alive every spring when tens of thousands of Cleveland Guardians fans flock to the Gateway District to celebrate the start of a new season, whether they’re going to the game or not.
Grabbing a drink? Try the back deck at the Thirsty Parrot, a popular hangout for fans. Head over to Panini’s for a beer and a tasty overstuffed sandwich, or maybe try The Clevelander Bar for one of their signature burgers.
Going to a Guardians game has never been a better experience. The Right Field District is a great place to grab a drink, eat some local delicacies and cheer on the boys of summer beside the stacked home and away bullpens.
The Corner Bar is a two-story funhouse that hosts close to 40 beers on tap, complete with a “Hometown Brews” wall that lets you pour your own beer. The Neighborhoods concession section in the District gives you a taste of some of the best food Cleveland has to offer including Ohio City’s Great Lakes Brewing Company, Tremont’s Barrio and Cleveland Heights’ Melt Bar and Grilled.
Whether you’re lucky enough to snag a ticket, or just want to take part in the festivities, there’s so much to see and do in this “Major League” city during our Cleveland baseball Carnivale.
