Founded by the renowned Ronald K. Brown in 1985, Ronald K. Brown/Evidence has toured across the world to the highest acclaim. Using Afro-Caribbean and modern dance movement styles, Brown creates pieces that are both artistically and emotionally touching. The company will perform three works, including one of Brown’s most beloved works, “Grace”, and one of his newest works, “Mercy”. Originally choreographed for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre in 1999, “Grace” became a part of the EVIDENCE repertory in 2003. Grace weaves the story of a Goddess’ journey to Earth to spread grace among humans, ultimately welcoming them to heaven. “Ron Brown’s Grace connects us to our ancient, ancestral heartbeat. He carries that scintilla of beginning-of-time memory that dwells within us, which we forget belongs to us.” - Judith Jamison (Past Artistic Director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater). Mr. Brown has set works on Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Cleo Parker Robinson Ensemble, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Philadanco, Ballet Hispanico and many others. DANCECleveland last presented Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE in 2004 and Ronald K. Brown participated in a lecture as part of DANCECleveland’s Body of Work: Dialogues on Dance series.
